Allan Mallinson meets Lady Lucy French, great-granddaughter of the first Commander-in-Chief of the BEF. Lady Lucy French is the great-granddaughter of Field Marshal Sir John French, the first commander-in-chief of British Expeditionary Force, which sustained heavy losses in the first weeks of the Great War.

She is also a theatre director and driving force behind Never Such Innocence, a charity that will produce one of the cultural highlights of First World War centenary commemorations next year – a two day theatrical production including extracts from the letters and diaries of her grandfather… download
